Ciclosporine 25 mg soft gelatin capsules*

What Ciclosporine is used for : 

Ciclosporine (Cyclosporine) is used to reduce the activity of the immune system in patients who have had an organ transplant and in patients with autoimmune diseases (such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, atopic dermatitis, and nephrotic syndrome).

Do not take Ciclosporine : 

• If you’re allergic to the active substances or any other component of this medicine.
• For autoimmune diseases if you have kidney disease.
• For autoimmune diseases if you have high blood pressure.
• For autoimmune diseases if you have cancer.
• For psoriasis if you are receiving any of the following treatments: any immunosuppressive agent or radiation therapy.

Warnings and precautions : 

• Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this drug including:
• If you have kidney or liver problems.
• If you have uncontrolled high blood pressure.
• If you have cancer.
• If you are currently taking any vaccines.
•  If you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breast-feeding.
• This medicine lowers your immunity and may put you at risk of developing serious infections.
• This medicine may put you at risk of developing certain types of cancers such as lymphoma or skin cancer.

Possible side effects :

Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop rash; hives; blisters; itching; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Note: side effects you experience may depend on your condition.

Serious side effects : 

• Kidney toxicity (difficulty passing urine, change in quantity of urine passed...)
• Liver toxicity (yellow discoloration of eyes and skin, dark urine, clay colored stools…)
• Increase in blood pressure
• Easy bruising, unusual bleeding
• Infections

Other medicines and Ciclosporine

• Ciclosporine interacts with a lot of medicines.
• These medicines increase the side effects and could lead to life threatening conditions.
• Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, including over the counter medications, supplements and herbal products. 

How to take Ciclosporine  :

• This medicine should only be used under the supervision of an expert doctor.
• Different dosage forms are not interchangeable.
• Do not switch without asking your doctor.
• If you are taking this drug every day, take it at the same time of the day.
• If you are taking this drug every week, take it on the same day each week.
• The dosage may vary depending on your condition and body weight. Your doctor will adjust it for you.

How to store Ciclosporine  :

• Store at room temperature 68 to 77°F (20 to 25°C).
• Once opened, the contents must be used within two months.
• Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

*Dosage form and route of administration of Ciclosporine 50 mg soft gelatin capsules, 100 mg soft gelatin capsules, 50mg/mL oral solution, 50 mg/mL injection should be prescribed according to therapeutic indication and disease severity of each individual patient.
