Desvenlafaxine extended-release tablets 50 mg
What Desvenlafaxine is used for :
- Desvenlafaxine is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder.
Do not use Desvenlafaxine :
- Hypersensitivity to Desvenlafaxine succinate, venlafaxine hydrochloride or any excipients
- Do not use with an MAOI or within 14 days of stopping an MAOI.
- Allow 7 days after stopping Desvenlafaxine before starting an MAOI
Warnings and precautions :
- Clinical Worsening/Suicide Risk: Monitor for clinical worsening and suicide risk
- Serotonin Syndrome or Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS)-like Reactions: Serotonin syndrome or NMS-like reactions have been reported with SSRIs and SNRIs.
- Discontinue Desvenlafaxine and initiate supportive treatment
- Elevated Blood Pressure: Has occurred with Desvenlafaxine .
- Hypertension should be controlled before initiating treatment.
- Monitor blood pressure regularly during treatment
- Abnormal Bleeding: Desvenlafaxine may increase the risk of bleeding events.
- Patients should be cautioned about the risk of bleeding associated with the concomitant use of Desvenlafaxine and NSAIDs, aspirin, or other drugs that affect coagulation
- Narrow-angle Glaucoma: Mydriasis has occurred with Desvenlafaxine .
- Patients with raised intraocular pressure or those at risk of angle-closure glaucoma should be monitored
- Activation of Mania/Hypomania: Has occurred.
- Use cautiously in patients with Bipolar Disorder.
- Caution patients about the risk of activation of mania/hypomania
- Cardiovascular/Cerebrovascular Disease:
- Use cautiously in patients with cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease Cholesterol and Triglyceride Elevation:
- Use cautiously in patients with lipid metabolism disorders. Consider monitoring serum cholesterol and triglyceride
- Discontinuation Symptoms: Have occurred.
- Taper the dose when possible and monitor for discontinuation symptoms
- Renal Impairment: Reduces the clearance of Desvenlafaxine . Dosage adjustment is necessary in severe and ESRD. In moderate renal impairment, the dose should not exceed 50 mg/day
- Seizure: Can occur. Use cautiously in patients with seizure disorder
- Hyponatremia: Can occur in association with SIADH
- Drugs Containing Desvenlafaxine or Venlafaxine: Should not be used concomitantly with it
- Interstitial Lung Disease and Eosinophilic Pneumonia: Can occur
Possible Side Effects :
- Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop throat tightness or swelling of the eyes, face, lips or tongue, feel faint, or have difficulty breathing.
- Stop using the product if you develop hives or itching of the face or body.
Other Medicines and Desvenlafaxine :
- Especially tell your healthcare provider if you take:
- other MAOIs
- medicines to treat migraine headaches known as triptans
- tricyclic antidepressants
- fentanyl
- lithium
- tramadol
- tryptophan
- buspirone
- amphetamines
- St. John's Wort
- other medicines containing Desvenlafaxine or venlafaxine
- medicines that can affect blood clotting such as aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), warfarin
- medicines used to treat mood, anxiety, psychotic, or thought disorders, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs)
How to Use Desvenlafaxine :
- Recommended dose: 50 mg once daily with or without food.
How to Store Desvenlafaxine :
- Store at 20° to 25°C.Do not use after the expiration date (EXP), which is on the container.
- The expiration date refers to the last day of that month.
- Keep and all medicines out of the reach of children.

What Desvenlafaxine is used for :
