- Manufacturer: Merional HG
Product Description:
- Merional HG contains highly purified human menopausal gonadotropin (hMG), extracted from the urine of menopausal women.
- hMG belongs to the class of sex hormones called gonadotropins. Its main physiological action in women is the stimulation of follicle development until maturation.
- An egg will develop in one of these follicles which will be expelled during ovulation induced by the use of another hormone (human choriogonadotropin, hCG) and which can subsequently be fertilised.
- Merional HG is indicated in the case of infertility in women with ovarian dysfunction, or in the case of absence or irregularity of menstruation resulting from a too weak or normal release of hormones from the pituitary gland. In these cases you want only one follicle to develop in the ovary.
- Merional HG is also indicated in women who resort to assisted reproductive techniques (e.g. IVF, ICSI). These techniques require the development of multiple follicles at the same time.
How to use:
- Merional HG can be injected intramuscularly (intramuscular injection into the buttock, thigh or upper arm), or subcutaneously (subcutaneous injection into the abdomen).
Caution & Warnings:
- The risk of multiple pregnancies is higher. The number of miscarriages increases during treatment with Merional HG and is comparable to that of women with other fertility disorders.
- Merional HG must not be used in case of:
- hypersensitivity to one of its components; presumed or confirmed pregnancy and during peastfeeding;
- early menopause;
- infertility of non-hormonal origin (unless you participate in a medically assisted reproduction program);
- enlargement of the ovaries or presence of cysts not due to polycystic ovaries;
- blood loss of gynecological origin due to unknown causes;
- cancer of the ovary, uterus, peast, as well as pain tumors;
- thyroid or adrenal gland dysfunction;
- increase in the concentration of the hormone prolactin (can induce the disappearance of menstruation or possibly the secretion of milk from the nipples)
- malformations of the genital organs;
- benign tumors of the uterus
Side Effects:
- Local reactions at the injection site (redness, puising, swelling and/or itching),
- Pseudo-flu symptoms, such as fever and joint pain, pelvic pain
- Breast tenderness
- Swelling, nausea and diarrhea,
- Ovarian hyperstimulation.
