Minoxidil 5% cutaneous solution What Minoxidil is used for:
- Minoxidil is used topically on the scalp to treat hereditary hair loss.
Do not use Minoxidil
- If you’re allergic to the active substance or any other component of this medicine.
- If you have high blood pressure.
- If you have a skin condition on your scalp such as psoriasis or sunburn.
- If you have hair loss due to other reasons (medications, childbirth).
- If you have a shaved scalp.
- If you have to wear a dressing or bandage on your scalp.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this medicine including:
- If you have heart or vessel problems.
- If you are not sure your scalp is healthy.
Possible side effects
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor right away if you experience:
- Allergic reactions
- Chest pain
- Palpitations and/or fast heart beat
- Swelling of the hands and feet
- Faintness and dizziness

Minoxidil interacts with the following:
- Medicines for blood pressure called vasodilators (e.g. Hydralazine)
- Topical corticosteroids on your scalp
How to use Minoxidil
- This medicine is for people aged 18-65 years old.
- Use as indicted by your doctor.
- This medicine is to be used on the scalp only.
- Apply 1mL to your scalp twice daily (6 sprays).
How to store Minoxidil
- Store at room temperature 68 to 77°F (20 to 25°C).
- Keep away from heat, flammable liquid.
- Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
