Product description:
- Galtipex is a drug used to treat paroxysmal forms of multiple sclerosis ( MS ).
- It modifies the way the body's immune system works, and it is classified as an immunomodulatory agent.
- The symptoms of MS are believed to be due to a fault in the body's immune system.
- Patchy inflammation forms in the brain and spinal cord.
- Galtipex is used to reduce the number of attacks of MS .
- Galtipex has not been shown to help if you have a form of MS with few or no attacks .
- It has not been shown that Galtipex has an effect on the duration of an MS attack , or on how bad you get during the attack .
How To Use:
- Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.
- Contact a doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
- The recommended dose for adults is one pre-filled syringe (40 mg glatiramer acetate) injected under the skin ( subcutaneously ) three times a week, with an interval of at least 48 hours between injections, for example on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It is recommended to inject the medicine on the same days each week.
It is very important that you inject Galtipex correctly:
- Only in the subcutaneous tissue ( subcutaneous use) (see "Instructions for use").
- Use the dosage that your doctor has explained to you and prescribed.
- Never use the same pre-filled syringe more than once.
- Unused medicine must be discarded.
- The contents of Galtipex must not be mixed or given at the same time as any other medicine.
- If the solution contains particles, it should not be used.
- Use a new pre-filled syringe.
- The first time you use Galtipex, you will receive full guidance and help from a doctor or nurse. They will be with you while you inject the medicine and for half an hour afterwards to make sure you don't have any problems.
Instructions for use:
- Read these instructions for use very carefully before you start using Galtipex.
Make sure you have everything you need before the injection:
- one blister pack with Galtipex pre-filled syringe.
- waste container for used syringe tips and syringes.
- for each injection, remove only one blister pack with one pre-filled syringe. Keep all unused syringes in the box.
- if the syringe has been stored in the refrigerator, remove the blister pack with the syringe at least 20 minutes before you are going to inject the medicine, so that it reaches room temperature.
Warnings and precautions:
Do not use Galtipex
- If you are allergic to glatiramer acetate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Galtipex if you have kidney or heart disease, because you may need regular checks.
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Galtipex if you have or have had liver problems (including those caused by alcohol consumption).
Barn:
- Galtipex should not be used by children under the age of 18.
Older:
- The use of Galtipex in the elderly has not been specifically investigated. Ask your doctor for advice.
Other medicines and Galtipex
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you use, have recently used or plan to use other medicines.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Talk to your doctor and get an assessment regarding Galtipex treatment during pregnancy if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
- Limited human data showed no adverse effects of Galtipex on breast-fed neonates/infants.
- Galtipex can be used during breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines
- The ability to drive or use machines is not known to be affected by Galtipex.
Ingredients:
- The active substance is glatiramer acetate.
- 1 ml of solution for injection (the contents of a pre-filled syringe) contains 40 mg of glatiramer acetate corresponding to 36 mg of glatiramer.
- Other ingredients are mannitol and water for injections.
