Fostimon 300 Iu. Vial (Refrigerator)

Product description:
- Fostimon Set is used to stimulate women who do not ovulate and who have not had an effect from treatment (clomiphene citrate).
- It is used to induce the development of more follicles (and therefore more eggs) in women undergoing fertility treatment.
- Urofollitropin is a highly purified human follicle-stimulating hormone , belonging to the drug group gonadotropins .
How To Use:
- Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.
- Contact a doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
Women who do not ovulate and have irregular or no periods:
- If you are menstruating, treatment should start within 7 days of the start of menstruation (the first 7 days of the menstrual cycle).
You will receive 1 injection per day, under the skin ( subcutaneously ).
The usual starting dose is 75 to 150 IU FSH (Fostimon Set) every day. This dose can be increased, if necessary, by 37.5 to 75 IU at 7 or preferably 14 day intervals, to obtain the correct effect.
The maximum daily dose of FSH is usually not more than 225 IU.
If your doctor cannot see an effect after 4 weeks of treatment, this cycle of treatment will be stopped. For the next cycle, your doctor will prescribe a higher starting dose.
When you get a good effect (satisfactory follicle growth), you will receive one injection of another drug ( hcg ) which is used to fully mature the follicles and release eggs. This will be given 24 to 48 hours after the last Fostimon Set injection. You should have intercourse on the day the hcg is given and the day after. - If you get too strong an effect, treatment will be stopped and hcg will not be given (see Possible side effects). For the next cycle, your doctor will prescribe a lower starting dose.
Women undergoing ovarian stimulation for the development of multiple follicles prior to in vitro fertilization or other assisted reproductive techniques:
Situation 1 - If you are menstruating:
- Treatment should start 2 or 3 days after the start of menstruation (the 2nd or 3rd day of the menstrual cycle).
- You will receive 1 injection per day, subcutaneously .
- The usual starting dose for heavy ovulation is 150 to 225 IU Fostimon Set every day.
- The treatment is continued, with a dose adapted to your effect, until you get the desired ovarian development.
- This is usually achieved on average on the 10th day of treatment (5 to 20 days) and is measured by taking blood tests and/or ultrasound examinations.
- The maximum dose is usually 450 IU/day.
When the desired follicle development has been achieved, you will receive one injection of a medicine used to allow the follicles to fully mature. - This medicine contains up to 10,000 IU of human chorionic gonadotropin ( hcg ).
- It will be given 24 to 48 hours after the last Fostimon Set injection.
- Cells will be retrieved approximately 35 hours later.
Situation 2 - When a gonadotropin-releasing hormone ( gnrh ) agonist is used
Fostimon Set will be given approximately:
- 2 weeks after starting this treatment. Both treatments are continued until the desired follicle development is achieved.
- fostimon set will be given as 1 injection per day, subcutaneously or intramuscularly.
- For example, 150 to 225 iu fostimon set will be given for the first 7 days after two weeks of treatment with a gnrh agonist .
- The dose is then adapted to the effect on the ovaries.
How should Fostimon Set be given:
- Fostimon Set is given by injection under the skin ( subcutaneously ).
- Each vial should be used only once, and the injection should be used as soon as it is made.
If you take too much Fostimon Set:
- Contact a doctor, hospital if you have ingested too much medication or if a child has ingested medication by accident.
- For other questions about the medicine, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
The effects of an overdose with Fostimon Set are unknown, but ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome can be expected (see Possible side effects).
If you have forgotten to take Fostimon Set:
- Take it at the next regular injection time.
- You must not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you stop treatment with Fostimon Set:
Do not stop on your own initiative:
- Always consult your doctor if you are considering stopping treatment with this medicine.
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about the use of this medicine.
Warnings and precautions:
- This medicine must be used under the guidance of your doctor.
Do not use Fostimon Set if you have any of the following:
- Enlarged ovaries or cysts that are not due to a hormone disorder (polycystic ovary disease)
- Bleeding of unknown cause.
- Ovarian, uterine or breast cancer.
- Abnormal swelling (tumor) in the pituitary gland or hypothalamus (brain).
- Hypersensitivity ( allergy ) to urofollitropin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- This medicine should not be used if you have early menopause ( menopause ), malformations in the genitals or certain uterine tumors that can prevent a normal pregnancy.
- Inform your doctor if you have had an allergic reaction to similar medicines, even if no allergic reactions have been reported with Fostimon Set to date.
- This treatment increases your risk of developing a condition known as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) (see Possible side effects).
- If ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome occurs, treatment will be stopped and pregnancy will be avoided. The first signs of ovarian hyperstimulation are pain in the lower abdominal region as well as nausea , vomiting and weight gain.
- If these symptoms occur you should be examined by your doctor as soon as possible.
- In severe but rare cases, the ovaries may enlarge and fluid may accumulate in the abdomen or chest.
The medicine used to trigger the release of mature eggs (containing human chorionic gonadotropin- hcg ) may increase the risk of OHSS. - It is therefore not recommended to use hcgin cases where OHSS develops, and you should not have intercourse until after at least 4 days even if you use a barrier method as contraception.
- Please note that women with fertility problems have a higher rate of abortions than the general population.
- In patients receiving treatment to induce ovulation, the occurrence of multiple pregnancies and births is increased compared to natural fertilization. However, the risk can be minimized by using the recommended doses.
- There is a slightly increased risk of ectopic pregnancy in women with damaged fallopian tubes.
- Multiple pregnancy and characteristics of the parents undergoing fertility treatments (eg maternal age, sperm characteristics) may be associated with an increased risk of congenital defects.
Discuss this with your doctor before starting treatment, in particular:
- If you already know that you have an increased risk of getting thrombosis
- If you or someone in your close family has had thrombosis
- If you are very overweight.
Other medicines and Fostimon :
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or plan to use other medicines.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- Fostimon Set should not be used if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
