  • What Derma-T is and what it is used for Derma-T contains an antibiotic called clindamycin phosphate and comes as either a solution or a lotion.

  • The solution and the lotion are used on the skin to treat acne.


How to use Derma-T:



  • Always use Derma-T exactly as your doctor has told you.

  • You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure how to use this product.

  • Usually, you should use this medicine twice a day. Wash the affected area and put on a thin film of solution or lotion.

  • Topical Solution:

  • Before first use, fit the applicator cap to the bottle, invert the bottle to allow the applicator to be soaked by the solution. Apply a thin film to the affected area.

  • Topical Lotion: Apply a thin film of lotion to the affected area using a swab or soft piece of cloth.

  • If you forget to apply Derma-T Do not worry if you miss one or two applications; just carry on as soon as you remember.

  • If you stop using Derma-T Do not stop using Derma-T as soon as your acne starts to get better.

  • Ask your doctor when you should stop the treatment.

  • If you have any further questions on how to use this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.


Warnings & Precautions:



  • Before you use Derma-T Do not use Derma-T if you are: Hypersensitive (allergic) to clindamycin, lincomycin, or any of the other ingredients in the medicine.

  • Do not use if you have a history of inflammatory bowel disease or antibiotic-associated colitis.

  • Take special care with Derma-T Before using Derma-T make sure that your doctor knows if you have diarrhea or usually get diarrhea when you take antibiotics.

  • If you develop severe or prolonged or bloody diarrhea during or after using Derma-T,

  • tell your doctor immediately since it may be necessary to interrupt the treatment.

  • This may be a sign of bowel inflammation (pseudomembranous colitis) which can occur following treatment with antibiotics.

  • Derma-T Topical Solution contains alcohol, which can cause burning or irritation of your eyes.

  • Keep it away from your eyes, mouth, and cuts or grazes on your skin.

  • If you get any of these sensitive areas, wash them away with plenty of cool water.

  • Take care when using the lotion or the topical solution around your mouth as they each have an unpleasant taste. Derma-T Topical Solution is flammable.

  • Do not use the solution near flames or while you are smoking.

  • Taking other medicines Tell your doctor if you are using any skin treatments that contain benzoyl peroxide.

  • These medicines should not be used at the same time as Derma-T.

  • If you are going to the hospital for a surgical procedure, tell your doctor and/or anesthetist if you are taking drugs that cause paralysis of muscle (neuromuscular blocking agents).

  • Please tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines including medicines obtained without a prescription.

  • Pregnancy If you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant you should contact your doctor before using Derma-T.

  • Breast-feeding Tell your doctor if you will be breast-feeding while using Derma-T as the active substance in this medicine may be passed into breast milk.

  • Your doctor will decide if Derma-T is suitable for you. Although it is not likely that a nursing infant will take in very much of the active substance from the milk it drinks, if your baby gets bloodstained diarrhea or shows any signs of illness, tell your doctor at once.

  • You should stop breastfeeding if this happens. Driving and using machines No effects on the ability to drive or use machines have been seen with Derma-T.

  • Important information about some of the ingredients of Derma-T Derma-T Solution contains propylene glycol which may cause skin irritation.

  • Derma-T Lotion contains cetostearyl alcohol which may cause local skin reactions such as dermatitis (inflammation of the skin).


Possible side effects:



  • Like all medicines, Derma-T can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • Tell your doctor immediately if you develop severe, persistent, or bloody diarrhea (which may be associated with stomach pain or fever).

  • This is an uncommon side effect that may occur after treatment with antibiotics and can be a sign of serious bowel inflammation.

  • Derma-T Topical Solution may make your skin dry (a very common side effect).

  • Other side effects that have been seen with clindamycin phosphate Topical Lotion and clindamycin phosphate Topical Solution:

  • Very common: may affect more than 1 in 10 people Skin irritation (May cause symptoms such as burning, itching, peeling), hives.

  • Common: May affect up to 1 in 10 people with oily skin.

  • Uncommon: May affect up to 1 in 100 people (only seen with clindamycin phosphate solution)Gastrointestinal disturbances (may cause symptoms such as diarrhea, and nausea).

  • Frequency not known, but may also occur: Severe acne (also known as gram-negative folliculitis).

  • Stinging of the eye, stomach pain, inflammation of the. skin caused by contact with irritants or allergens. Clindamycin phosphate Topical Lotion may cause gastrointestinal disturbances (with symptoms such as diarrhea and nausea).

  • If any of the side effects get serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.


How to store Derma-T:



  • Store below 25°C.Keep the Topical Solution container tightly closed.

  • Do not use beyond the imprinted expiry date or if the product shows any visible signs of deterioration.
