What is Paracetamol/Sodium used for :
Paracetamol is a medication that belongs to a class of medicationsknown as analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (feverreducers). This product is used for the fast relief of the followingindications:
· Headache(including tension and migraine headaches)
· Periodpain
· Backache
· Rheumaticpain (joints pain)
· Cold andflu
· Sorethroat
· MusclePain
· Toothache
· Fever
Do not take Paracetamol :
· If youare allergic to Paracetamol, or any of the ingredients in this medicine. Tellyour doctor about the allergy and what signs you had.
· If youare taking other Paracetamol containing products. Make sure not to exceed thedose.
Warnings and precautions :
· Talk toyour doctor or pharmacist if you develop allergic reactions such as shortnessof breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, decreased blood pressureand dizziness.
· Make sureto tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, including alcoholicliver disease or if you have mild arthritis (joints inflammation) and need totake painkillers on a daily basis.
· Long termuse of this medication may be harmful to your liver.
· Contactyour doctor if symptoms are not relieved.
· Eachtablet of this product contains 173 mg of sodium. Talk to your doctor beforetaking this medication if you are following a strictly controlled sodium diet.
· Talk toyour doctor before taking this medication if you are malnourished, underweight,or a regular alcohol consumer.
· Talk toyour doctor if you have a severe infection, underweight, malnourished orconsume alcohol regularly in order to avoid development of metabolic acidosiswhich is usually manifested by signs and symptoms, like, loss of appetite,deep, difficult and rapid breathing, nausea and vomiting. Contact your doctorright away if you experience any of these signs.
Possible side effects :
Possible side effects of Paracetamol include signs of an allergicreaction like rash, signs of breathing problems like difficulty breathing,sudden weight loss, nausea, yellowing of the skin and eyes, loss of appetiteand unexplained bleeding or bruising.
Other medicines and Paracetamol/Sodium :
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recentlytaken or might take any other medications.
· If youare taking metoclopramide or domperidone (used for vomiting or nausea).
· If youare taking cholestyramine (used to lower blood cholesterol).
· If youare taking blood thinning medications (e.g. warfarin) and you need to take apainkiller every day. Concomitant chronic use of painkillers and bloodthinning medications may increase the risk of bleeding.
· If youare taking other Paracetamol-containing medications.
How to take Paracetamol :
Adults and children aged 16 years and over :
Take 2 tablets with half a tumbler of water (100 ml) every 4 hoursas needed. Make sure not to exceed 8 tablets in 24 hours.
Children aged 12-15 years :
Take 1 tablet with half a tumbler of water (100 ml) every 4 hoursas needed. Do not exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours.
Children under 12 years :
Do not give Paracetamol/Sodium tablets to children below 12 yearsof age.
· Swallowtablet with or without food. Take on an empty stomach for faster pain relief.
· Forfastest pain relief, take your dose with half a tumbler of water (100 ml) andon an empty stomach.
· Do nottake a higher than recommended dose and do not take the medication morefrequently than every 4 hours.
How to store Paracetamol :
· Keep outof the reach of children and pets
· Do not store the medicine above 25 ° C
· Do notuse beyond the expiry date mentioned on the box
